Gabon President Brice Oligui Nguema Arrives in Sierra Leone for Three-Day State Visit

President of the Gabonese Republic, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, has arrived in Sierra Leone for a three-day official state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two African nations.

President Nguema, accompanied by a high-level government delegation, landed at the Freetown International Airport in Lungi on Sunday, where he was received by Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, alongside senior cabinet ministers, diplomatic representatives, and security officials.

The official visit, which runs from 2 to 4 August 2026, is expected to reinforce diplomatic ties, deepen strategic partnerships, and promote greater collaboration between the Republic of Gabon and the Republic of Sierra Leone.

During his stay, President Nguema is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Julius Maada Bio and other senior government officials. Discussions will focus on key areas of mutual interest, including regional peace and security, trade and investment, governance, institutional cooperation, and economic development.

The visit also seeks to strengthen South-South cooperation, promote inter-African solidarity, and explore new opportunities for trade and investment between West and Central African countries.

According to the official programme, the three-day visit will feature high-level executive meetings, state receptions, and cultural exchanges designed to celebrate and further enhance the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Sierra Leone and Gabon.

The visit is expected to mark another significant step in advancing diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries while reaffirming their shared commitment to regional integration and sustainable development.
