The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has appointed Victor Lewis as the new chairman of the Sierra Leone Premier League Board (PLB) for the 2023/24 season. Lewis, a football Maverick who has spent his entire life in the game, is also the CEO of East End Tigers FC, the team that he led to relegation in the recently concluded Sierra Leone Premier League. Lewis is a seasoned administrator with over 20 years of experience in the Sierra Leonean football scene. He has served in various capacities, including as the chairman of the East End Tigers FC board of directors and as a member of the SLFA executive committee. However, he has also been praised for his commitment to developing football in Sierra Leone. The SLFA said in a statement that Lewis was appointed to the PLB chairmanship "in recognition of his wealth of experience and his commitment to developing football in Sierra Leone." Lewis is expected to start functioning in his new role immediately, as the new Premier League season is due to commence soon. In a statement, Lewis said he was "honored" to be appointed PLB chairman and promised to work hard to "revive the Premier League and make it one of the best in Africa." He also said he would focus on improving the financial and administrative aspects of the Premier League, as well as on promoting youth development. Only time will tell whether Lewis will be able to revive the Premier League and make it one of the best in Africa. However, there is no doubt that he is a qualified and experienced administrator who is well-known in the Sierra Leonean football Make-up.

Forty-three alleged protesters were on Thursday 24th September 2023 remanded into custody, after court appearance on various charges of Unlawful Procession, Riotous Conduct and Disorderly Behavior among other offences. The 43-accused appeared before the Court to answer to five Counts of Conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law, all under the Public Order Act of 1965 as repealed and replaced by 1973. The particulars state that on 11th day of September, 2023 at the east end of Freetown Judicial District in the Western Rural of the Republic of Sierra Leone, the 43 accused persons conspired together and with other persons unknown, to commit a crime without lawful authority. The matter was Prosecuted by DSP E.A. Deen and Magistrate Hadiru Daboh refused bail and adjourned the matter to the 21st September, 2023.

Dreams FC defeated FC Kallon 2-1 in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup Second Round Preliminary tie at the Accra Sports Stadium. Dreams opened the scoring in the first half, but FC Kallon equalized to make it 1-1. Dreams then won a penalty and converted it to make it 2-1. The second leg is scheduled for September 30th at the Southern Arena, where FC Kallon will need to win to overturn the result and qualify. Former Leone Stars captain Umaru Bangura wore the captain's armband for FC Kallon throughout the match at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Edmond Abu of Native Consortium and Research Center has said in an interview, that he will be suspending all pending and planned protest of his think tank, due to the current political climate, surrounding protestings. According to him, critiquing the increments in fuel, as well as opposing the proposed Electricity Tariff and Mobile Tariff increments, going as far as labeling them as looting, does not amount to his establishment supporting any action that will threaten Sierra Leone’s peace, which should guard the actions of every individual. He reaffirmed that their lives begin to end, the day they keep silent about the things that matter. Peaceful protests, he added, is a fundamental human right but any protest that will lead to insurrection, public disorder that will threaten the overall peace of the nation similar to occurences of August 10, 2022 should be roundly condemned. He also advised that Religious Leaders, Political Parties, the Media and CSOs should not keep a deafening silence waiting until something happens. He conclusively calls on the security forces to be professional and admonish them against unnecessary excessive use of force.

First lady Madam Fatima Bio at the First Annual Free Future 2023: Preventing Gender Violence Around the World" in New York, on the 14th September, has impressed on major stakeholders in advocacy, the need for revamped actions to mitigate the scourge of gender based violence. Madam Bio, who was in America for the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, was attending this event hosted by the Ford Foundation in partnership with the Government of the United Kingdom. Using her “Hands off our Girls” project, she explained how focusing on such a sensitive issue had shed much needed attention for the understanding of all demographics, impacting a transformation equating years in one swoop. She continued that her work had tuned up conversations on a grander scale equating to years worth, including other sensitive issues, civically educating the endangered themselves, such as menstruation, which were previously surrounded by stigma and silence, thereby destigmatizing them to aid the stance towards eradication. She remarked that treaties previously signed should be localized and solidified by the devising of policies and legislation to address gender-based violence on a global scale. By sharing the success of the "Hands Off Our Girls" campaign and her efforts in spearheading UN resolutions, she has ignited a global movement to protect women and girls from gender-based violence. The First Lady's passionate plea for the United States to step up and address the global scourge of sexual violence further emphasizes the need for international cooperation and leadership in combating this issue.

The Kanibay Sports and Development Alliance will host a two-day sporting jamboree on December 9-10, 2023, at the Attouga Mini Stadium. Speaking to this Medium, the organizers revealed that five sporting disciplines—basketball, dodgeball, volleyball, hockey, and football—will be featured at the event. They added that the jamboree will also mark the official launch of the Kanibay Sports and Development Alliance, which is a tool for empowering young people through sports. Flames Cycling Club has announced on Friday, September 15, 2023, that it will host a cycling race for riders of all categories to mark its 5th anniversary. The race, dubbed the Freetown Classic, is open to cyclists of all categories, including veterans and upcoming. According to Secretary General Abu Bakarr Mansaray, the race will be held in two phases and there will be prizes for the top three finishers. Flames is calling on Sierra Leoneans to support the event , as the freetown Classic race is expected to provide significant health benefit for riders and a remarkable spectacle for attendees.

FC Kallon of Sierra Leone wrapped up their final training at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 14, 2023, ahead of their second CAF Confederation Cup match against Dreams FC of Ghana on September 15 at the Accra Sports Stadium at 4pm local time. Head coach and owner Mohamed Kallon conducted a situational session at the stadium. The team was in high spirits as they prepared to face Dreams FC in tomorrow's fixture, which is scheduled to kick off at exactly 4:00pm local time. Former Leone Stars captain Umaru Bangura was in attendance to train and inspire his current teammates to take the match against Dreams FC seriously. Goshen College has named Ishmael Bangura as the Male Rookie of the Year. Bangura was a key contributor to the Goshen College team, which finished the 2023 season with an impressive record and a berth in the College's Tournament. He is widely considered by Goshen College as one of its brightest prospects. "Ishmael is a special player," said Goshen College head coach Jeff Philips. "He has a lot of talent and a great work ethic. He is a great addition to our program." Bangura is one of the many Goshen College players to be named the Male Rookie of the Year in 2023 and the first Sierra Leonean basketball star to be named Goshen College player of the year.
