Four Containers of New Police Uniforms Arrive in Freetown

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has received four containers of full kit combat uniforms in a major step toward standardizing the appearance of officers across the country.

The uniforms were officially offloaded at the Police Field in Kingtom in the presence of senior officers and logistics personnel.

The initiative is part of the SLP’s ongoing reforms and strategic development plan for 2025–2029, aimed at promoting discipline, cohesion, and a professional image within the Force.

Inspector General of Police, Mr. William Fayia Sellu, described the delivery as a significant milestone. “Seeing our officers dressed uniformly enhances our institutional identity and projects a more professional image to the public,” he said.

IGP Sellu highlighted that the standardized uniforms will foster a sense of belonging among officers, improve visibility, and strengthen public trust. “The era of different colours and inconsistent uniforms in the Force is over. From now on, we are moving towards a single, standardized appearance,” he added.

The distribution of uniforms will take place in phases until all officers nationwide are fully equipped. The Inspector General urged officers to wear their uniforms with pride, remain smart and presentable, and uphold the dignity of the Force at all times.

This delivery represents a key step in the SLP’s efforts to modernize the Force, enhance operational efficiency, and reinforce public confidence in law enforcement across Sierra Leone.
