New Chairman and Commissioner Appointed at EC

Electoral Commissioner Southern Region, Mr. Edmond Sylvester Alpha, has been directed to serve as Acting Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) with effect from July 30, 2025. 

This development follows the end-of-tenure leave of Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Mohamed K. Konneh.

The announcement comes amidst a recent swearing-in ceremony at State House, where President Dr. Julius Maada Bio officially welcomed Mr. Edmond Sylvester Alpha as the newly appointed interim Electoral Commissioner. 

President Bio congratulated acknowledging the demanding nature of the role and urging early preparation for the 2028 electoral cycle. 

He emphasized the importance of mental and operational readiness to ensure credible election results.

This leadership transition and new appointment underscore a pivotal moment for the ECSL as it gears up for future electoral processes.
