Alhaji Kamara, a 29-year-old fisherman, has been sentenced to 25 years of imprisonment at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Justice Adrian Fisher of High Court No. 1, located on Siaka Steven Street, Freetown. This conviction arises from the sexual penetration of an eight-year-old girl.

The defendant was charged with sexual penetration, an offense under Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act 2012, Act No. 12 of 2012, as amended by Section 4(a)(ii) of the Sexual Offences Amendment Act 2019, Act No. 8 of 2019.

The details of the offense indicate that between January 1 and January 31, 2024, in Freetown, the accused engaged in acts of sexual penetration with a minor under 18 years of age.

The victim testified in court, represented by Musa Pious Sesay Jr., Esq. She recounted that while she was unwell at home, the accused approached her and administered substances suspected to be Tramadol. After consuming the drugs, she lost consciousness, during which time the accused engaged in sexual intercourse with her in her mother’s bedroom.

The victim did not immediately report the incident but later disclosed it when her mother examined her and discovered her hymen had been broken. The victim identified the accused as the perpetrator and stated that the incident occurred in January 2024, although she could not recall the exact date.

Defense counsel, Randy Bangura, Esq., submitted a plea for leniency on behalf of the accused.

In his ruling, Justice Adrian Fisher sentenced Alhaji Kamara to 25 years of imprisonment at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
