Ambassador Visits Leone Stars Ahead of Crucial AFCON Qualifier
The Sierra Leone national football team, the Leone Stars, received a major morale boost on Tuesday following an official visit from His Excellency Alhaji Momodu Koroma, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco.
The diplomat visited the squad’s camp ahead of their opening TotalEnergies 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against Zimbabwe, scheduled for Thursday in El Jadida.
Welcoming the delegation to Morocco, Ambassador Koroma assured the team of full support from the Embassy during their stay.
He praised the positive trajectory of Sierra Leonean football under Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Babadi Kamara, emphasizing that ongoing structural improvements encourage continued government backing for the sport.
In his address to the players, Ambassador Koroma highlighted the privilege of representing the country. He urged the squad to display pride, discipline, and maximum effort when wearing the national colors on Thursday.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the delegation, Leone Stars Team Manager Abdul Karim Bangura thanked the Ambassador for his visit and words of encouragement.
Bangura reassured the diplomat that both the players and the technical staff are completely focused on securing a victory to launch their AFCON 2027 qualification campaign.
The meeting concluded on a high note, bolstering team spirit as final preparations wrap up for the key encounter in El Jadida.
