Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed "Omodu" Kamara, a prominent aspirant for the All Peoples Congress (APC) leadership popularly known as Jagaban, has formally initiated a large-scale humanitarian effort involving the distribution of 6,000 bags of rice throughout Sierra Leone.
The announcement followed an inspection of the central storage facilities. Jagaban confirmed that the logistical framework targets various administrative levels, including wards and constituencies, as well as religious institutions and community leadership across the country.
The distribution cycle is scheduled to commence on March 12, 2026, with an allocation of 30 units per constituency. Recipient groups include key party organs such as the Youth and Women’s Congresses, veterans, disability advocacy groups, and the Northern Alliance, ensuring broad community engagement.
While addressing stakeholders, Jagaban expressed regret regarding the revised timeline, noting that the distribution now aligns with the final ten days of Ramadan. This period holds profound spiritual significance and is traditionally marked by increased charitable activity and community support.
He reaffirmed that this initiative is strictly philanthropic, emphasizing that all supplies are to be provided free of charge to recipients without exception.
This initiative underscores a commitment to national welfare and social responsibility, providing essential support to families during a critical period of observance and community solidarity.
