Auto Electrician and Businessman Remanded on Alleged Fraud Charges

Manso Kargbo, a 25-year-old auto electrician, and Daniel Conteh, a 33-year-old businessman, appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown for their initial hearing. They are facing two counts, including fraud and receiving stolen property.


The charges allege that, between February and March 23, 2023, at Riverside Drive, Red Pump, off King Harman Road in Brookfields, Freetown, the defendants engaged in criminal conduct. Specifically, they are accused of the fraudulent conversion of property entrusted to them for repair and the receipt of stolen goods.



The particulars of the offence detail that the first defendant, Manso Kargbo, allegedly converted for his personal use a black 2013 BMW series valued at $8,200 (approximately Le 196,800) and a 2012 Acura MDX valued at $10,000 (approximately Le 240,000). These vehicles were reportedly entrusted to him by Ibrahim Sayenu Siesay for repair services. The second defendant, Daniel Conteh, is accused of receiving the aforementioned BMW vehicle with the knowledge that it was stolen.


When the charges were formally read in court, Manso Kargbo offered no plea, while Daniel Conteh entered a plea of not guilty.


The prosecution team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, requested a brief adjournment to allow time for the presentation of witnesses.


Counsel for the defendants, A.K. Turay Esq., submitted an application for bail in accordance with Section 76(1)(c) of the Criminal Procedure Act 2024. However, Magistrate Fornah denied the bail request, citing the serious nature of the charges.


The matter has been adjourned until November 28, 2025.
