“Bad Light” Triggers Serious Fire in Portee Community, Eastern Freetown

A fire broke out on Wednesday morning in the Portee community in eastern Freetown, causing panic among residents. The blaze reportedly started around 9:43 a.m. and spread rapidly through the area.
According to initial reports, the fire is believed to have been caused by a faulty electrical connection, locally referred to as “bad light.” The National Fire Force is currently on the scene battling the flames.

Police officers have also been deployed to maintain order and ensure the safety of residents as firefighting efforts continue.
No casualties have been reported so far, although the extent of property damage is still being assessed. Authorities are expected to release more details once the situation is fully brought under control.

This latest incident adds to a series of fire outbreaks in Freetown, renewing public concern over fire safety and the risks associated with poor electrical wiring in densely populated communities.
