Basketball: Archibald Red Flames defeat Freetown Lakers 71: 64 to Claim WABA Basketball Final


Red Flames basketball Club has defeated Freetown Lakers in the Western Area Basketball Association(WABA) Division One final at the Freetown Amusement Park.


The symbolic match was a clear indication that Red Flames and Freetown Lakers Basketball Clubs are in great form at the moment and that intensified during the game final showdown.


At the height of the Match , Red flames registered a flying start to the Western Area Basketball Association game 5 final as they captured several points from far out the Freetown Lakers area, with wide range shooting skills visibly demonstrated among many other things.


Time out was called intermittently by both sides as the pressure and magnitude of the match were off the scale as they leveled on 32 points.


Red Flames took the better of the final as the scoreboard went in their favour by claiming 71:64 points to colourfully kept the flames higher.


In his response to the triumph, red flames Coach, Issa Fofana , lauded the impressive performance of his team and also commended Freetown Lakers for their brave show of courage and dedication all throughout the match.


On the other hand, Freetown Lakers Coach Alex Sahr , perceived the match as a turning point for his upcoming team and added that the takeaways are enough to strengthen the team for Subsequent Competitions.

The Competition provided exposure for players like Emmanuel Kamara of Freetown Lakers and Harun Sesay of Red Flames and that has prompted the Secretary General of WABA David Ngaujah to contemplate on the development strides the association should take to ensure growth of the game across the board.


In days and weeks to come Red Flames would be officially crowned as Champions of the WABA Division one.
