Bio and Lasayo in theft, Accomplice Charged with Receiving Stolen Good

A woman caught inside a Lumley residence in the early hours of Friday, August 13, 2025, now faces charges of burglary and theft, alongside an alleged accomplice accused of receiving stolen property.

Fatmata Lasayo and Abdul Bio appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1, facing charges under Sections 25(1) and 23(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

Police reports indicate that Lasayo allegedly broke into the home of Ibrahim Suma on NASSIT Drive, Wilkinson Road, Lumley, with the intent to steal.

Items reportedly taken include a Samsung mobile phone valued at Le2,000, an Itel mobile phone valued at Le1,500, and Le5,000 in Guinean Francs, totaling Le8,000.

Abdul Bio is accused of knowingly receiving the two stolen mobile phones on August 1, 2025.

Key prosecution witness Ramatu Summah, a driver residing at the same address, testified that she was awoken around 3:00 a.m. by noises inside the house.

Upon investigation, she discovered Fatmata Lasayo. Summah stated that Lasayo was detained and questioned, initially claiming she was there to fetch water and had been brought by a male relative.

However, police subsequently discovered two missing mobile phones and tampering with a motorbike belonging to Summah's brother.

The situation escalated at Lumley Police Station, where Lasayo reportedly called her husband, who was subsequently arrested for allegedly attempting to interfere with police proceedings.

Further investigations revealed that Lasayo had sold the stolen phones and reportedly confessed to the crime at the station.

Both Fatmata Lasayo and Abdul Bio remain in custody, with the case adjourned to September 28, 2025, for further hearing.
