Businessman Remanded Over Alleged Unlawful Possession of Cannabis

Businessman Ibrahim Kamara has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown following his first appearance before Justice Adrian Fisher of the High Court.

Kamara is facing a charge of unlawful possession of drugs, contrary to Section 8(a) of the National Drugs Control Act 2008, Act No. 10 of 2008.

The charge stems from an incident on October 9, 2025, at Koidu Holdings Limited in Koidu Town, Kono District, where Kamara was allegedly found in possession of 103 wraps of cannabis sativa, weighing approximately 80 grams, without lawful authority.

The substance was subsequently confirmed to contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), according to the prosecution.

When the charge was read and explained to him, Kamara pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution, led by A. Jalloh Esq., requested a short adjournment to present its witnesses.

Justice Fisher declined to grant bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence, and ordered Kamara to remain at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.

The matter was adjourned to October 16, 2026, for further proceedings.
