Casino Clerk Remanded for Alleged Theft of Betting Chips at Golden Beach Casino

Santigie Kamara, a casino clerk, has been remanded in connection with the alleged theft of betting chips valued at Le 679,590 from Golden Beach Casino between April and July 2024. Magistrate John Manso Fonah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown ordered the remand of Kamara, who is charged with Larceny by Servant.


According to court testimony from Prosecution Witness (PW5) Kindo Papa Kamara, a report of larceny was received on July 12, 2024, at GROH 2 Police Station. The witness, along with the complainant and the accused, visited the casino, where the complainant identified Kamara through CCTV footage.




Detective Police Constable (D/PC) 13169 Moifory M. took a voluntary caution statement from the accused, which was obtained in Krio, read back in English, and explained in Krio. Kamara admitted to the facts and affixed his right thumbprint, and the statement was tendered as Exhibit B1–6.


The complainant also provided a document detailing the stolen chips, which was marked as Exhibit C1–2. Another voluntary caution statement from the accused, dated July 14, 2024, was tendered as Exhibit D1–3. The investigation file has since been transferred to the CID Headquarters for further inquiry. The case has been adjourned to October 21, 2025, for further hearing.
