CCTV Cameras Roll Out in Kenema to Combat Street Crime

Seeking to bolster public safety and crime prevention, the Sierra Leone Police Eastern Region Command has begun installing Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras across Kenema City.

This initiative aims to curb street crime, drug trafficking, and unauthorized gatherings.

Spearheaded by AIG East Moses Francis Tower, the project follows the recent distribution of 15 CCTV units by the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

The cameras are strategically placed at major road intersections, public facilities, and high-risk areas identified through intelligence reports.

During the installation process, AIG Tower hailed the project as a major advancement in surveillance capabilities and proactive policing. With these cameras, they will significantly improve monitoring, deter criminal activity, and expedite investigations.

David Abdul Mbayo, Head of ICT for the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), underscored the critical importance of these installations. He personally supervised the mounting of the surveillance systems in key locations across the city during their unveiling to AIG East Kenema.

The public is encouraged to support this vital project and report any attempts to tamper with or destroy the cameras, as they are crucial for building a safer Kenema.

The police emphasize that security is a collective responsibility, urging citizens to protect their city together.
