CID Witness Testifies Against Six Men Charged in Violent Bo NASSIT Robbery

At the Pademba Road Magistrate Court in Freetown, prosecution witness DPC 11692 Paul Jusu of the Major Crime Unit, CID Headquarters, testified in the ongoing trial of six men charged with robbery, assault, and receiving stolen property relating to an incident at the Bo NASSIT Quarters.

During his testimony, DPC Jusu identified all six defendants and outlined their alleged roles in the crimes. He told the court that on 8 August 2025, he received transfer files from the Bo Regional Office containing five endorsed search warrants, medical reports, and statements from both the accused persons and the victims. He confirmed that the documents were secured in police custody and were tendered as exhibits.

The witness further detailed the evidence recovered, including an iPhone 13 Pro Max, two iron crowbars, two cutlasses, a black face mask, screwdrivers, a knife, locally made guns, cartridges, and pieces of clothing. He added that ballistic examinations and cyber investigations into several mobile phone numbers had been requested, with the resulting reports also submitted as exhibits.

DPC Jusu testified that the accused persons gave voluntary statements in both Krio and English, admitting their involvement and affixing thumbprints to validate their statements. He said the exhibits and statements were formally entered into evidence during the investigation.

He recounted that on 28 August 2025, at NASSIT Quarters, Hancil Road in Bo Town, the first to fifth accused allegedly conspired with others to commit robbery with aggravation. Armed with guns and machetes, they are accused of robbing victim John Malacheous Baimaigay Lamina of properties including an iPhone 13 Pro Max and several wristwatches valued at Le 135,790, while also inflicting violence.

The prosecution further alleged that the sixth accused, Alhassan Sesay, was found the following day at Banga Farm, Waterloo, in possession of a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop and an iPhone 13 Pro Max belonging to the same victim, knowing they were stolen.

During cross-examination by the accused persons including condemned inmate Gbessay Swaray DPC Jusu maintained the authenticity of the evidence and the statements presented.

Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah remanded all six accused persons and adjourned the matter to 1 December 2025. The prosecution is led by C.S.P. Ziza.
