Court Issues Bench Warrant for Defendant and Surety in Conspiracy and Larceny Case

A bench warrant has been issued by a Freetown court for defendant Alusine Alie and his surety after they failed to appear in proceedings involving charges of conspiracy and theft of valuable property.

The matter is currently before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown.

According to court documents, the defendant is charged with conspiracy to commit a crime on March 19, 2026, at Damaya Drive, Hill Station, in the Mountain Rural District of Freetown, alongside others still unknown.

He also faces a second count of larceny, accused of stealing a Honda 45 K.Y.A generator valued at seven thousand Leones and an automatic shingle primary pumping machine valued at five thousand five hundred Leones, totalling twelve thousand five hundred Leones, property belonging to Izick Mustapha Conteh.

When the charges were read and explained in court, the defendant pleaded not guilty.

However, prosecution led by Sergeant 3379 Ballay T applied for a bench warrant after both the accused and his surety failed to appear in court.

Magistrate Fornah granted the request and ordered the issuance of a bench warrant, noting that the defendant was granted bail but failed to comply with court attendance requirements.

The case has been adjourned to June 18, 2026, for further hearing.

The court’s decision underscores the seriousness of the charges and the importance of the defendant’s appearance in ensuring the continuation of legal proceedings.
