Defending Champions OVP Advance After Gandi William’s Brace Against ACC

Ron Gandi William scored twice to guide defending champions Office of the Vice President (OVP) to a 2-0 victory over the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday evening, securing their place in the next round of the Inter-Ministry, Department and Agency (MDA) Football Competition at the National Stadium Practice Field.

William found the net in the 8th and 27th minutes to give OVP a commanding first-half lead in their Group D encounter. His brace proved decisive as the defending champions secured all three points and confirmed their qualification for the next stage of the competition.

The ACC improved after the break, creating several scoring opportunities and enjoying spells of attacking pressure. However, they failed to find a breakthrough as OVP maintained their defensive discipline to preserve their two-goal advantage until the final whistle.

In the other Group D fixture, the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) and the Bank of Sierra Leone (BSL) played out a goalless draw.

EPA created several promising chances but could not convert them, while BSL’s defence remained organised to keep their opponents at bay.

The draw earned both sides a point each, leaving OVP to celebrate qualification following William’s decisive first-half performance.
