Diamond Stars Escape Relegation Threat After Final-Day Thriller

Diamond Stars secured their place in the Leone Rock Premier League for another season after a dramatic 3-2 victory over Bai Bureh Warriors FC in a final-day thriller played at the Port Loko Stadium on Saturday, 18 July 2026.
The visiting side made a fast start, with Abubakarr Fornah opening the scoring in the early minutes of the match to give Diamond Stars an important lead and ease early pressure.
Buoyed by the goal, Diamond Stars grew in confidence and created several opportunities before the break. Their persistence was rewarded after halftime when substitute Mohamed Thorley produced a brilliant individual effort to double their advantage and make it 2-0.
Bai Bureh Warriors responded strongly and showed great determination to fight their way back into the contest. Following tactical changes from the bench, Koliko P. Haba reduced the deficit after converting a pass from Sanpha Kamara to give the Warriors renewed hope.
The match continued at a high tempo, with both sides battling for control as the importance of the result became increasingly clear. Bai Bureh Warriors continued to push forward, and Sanpha Kamara completed the comeback by scoring the equaliser to make it 2-2.
However, Diamond Stars refused to surrender their advantage. Thorley delivered the decisive moment, scoring his second goal of the afternoon to restore the visitors’ lead and secure a crucial 3-2 victory.
The result confirmed Diamond Stars’ survival in the Leone Rock Premier League, while Bai Bureh Warriors ended the season in a strong position, finishing the campaign with 57 points.
