A driver accused of the fraudulent conversion of a vehicle battery and accessories, valued at three thousand six hundred Leones (Le 3,600), was remanded to a correctional facility following his initial appearance before a Freetown magistrate yesterday.
The accused, Suliaman Kamara, appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown. He faces a charge of unlawfully converting property entrusted to him, a serious offense under Sierra Leonean law.
Court records indicate that on Friday, October 24th, 2025, at Lightfoot Boston Street, Western Area, Freetown, Mr. Kamara allegedly converted to his own use a vehicle battery, headlamps, and other accessories. This property had been entrusted to him for safekeeping by Mr. Alusine Kamara.
The defendant did not enter a plea, as the matter is currently before the court for a preliminary investigation.
The prosecution, represented by Detective Police Constable 18235 Thoronka K.K., requested a short adjournment to allow for the presentation of their first witness.
Magistrate Fornah denied bail for the defendant, citing the gravity of the alleged offense and the necessity of maintaining the integrity of the ongoing investigation. Mr. Kamara was subsequently remanded to the male correctional facility in Freetown.
The case has been adjourned until November 3rd, 2025, for further proceedings. This case highlights the persistent efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat property crimes and uphold justice within Sierra Leone.
