Eleven Granted Bail Following Kroo Town Road Public Disturbance

Eleven men accused of possessing offensive weapons and attacking police officers during a public disturbance at Kroo Town Road were granted bail by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1.

The defendants—identified as Foday Kargbo, Daniel Morray, Alusine Bah, Ibrahim Bangura, Ibrahim Mansaray, Mohamed Sesay, Musa Kamara, Byron Browne, a second Mohamed Sesay, Patrick Swarray, and Bannister Samba—each pleaded not guilty to four criminal charges arising from the 13 September 2026 incident in Freetown’s Western Area.

According to prosecution reports, the men were involved in a tense confrontation in which they allegedly carried offensive weapons in public, threw missiles at operational police personnel, engaged in riotous conduct, and exhibited disorderly behavior.

The charges filed against the accused include carrying offensive weapons without lawful authority or reasonable excuse under Section 16(1) of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965, missile throwing under Section 6, and riotous and disorderly conduct under the amended provisions of the same Act.

Magistrate Jah set bail conditions at NLe 100,000 for each defendant, requiring two sureties per individual in a matching sum. Sureties are required to produce valid National Identification Cards, with bail agreements subject to approval by the court’s Deputy Assistant.

Court officials noted that the bail release does not constitute a finding of guilt as proceedings remain ongoing. The trial has been adjourned to 2 November 2026 for further hearing.
