In an ongoing fight against violence and property crimes, John Sesay, 55, and his son, John Alfred Sesay, 19, have been remanded into custody following allegations of assault and malicious damage offenses.
The father and son made their first appearance before Magistrate Mamakoh Sao Kallon at Pademba Road Court No. 3 in Freetown, facing serious charges of assault and malicious property damage. They are alleged to have attacked Aziz Alhassan Turay on Monday, July 21, 2025, at No. 11 Priscilla Street, Freetown, inflicting bodily harm and damaging Turay’s black prescription eyeglasses valued at approximately Le7,110 (about $300).
The charges, brought under Sections 46 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861 and Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act 1861, highlight the gravity of the alleged offenses. During proceedings, no plea was entered, and the court was informed that the police are yet to gather all witnesses necessary for the case.
The prosecutor indicated that the case file had just been received, and further evidence is pending. Magistrate Kallon ordered both accused to remain at the Male Correctional Centre until the next hearing, scheduled for August 8, 2025.
This case, prosecuted by Police Constable M.A. Sesay, serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding law and order in Sierra Leone. The court’s decision underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the government’s commitment to ensuring justice is served for victims of violence and property crimes.
