The Social Welfare Minister, Melrose Karminty, announced that fifty individuals who have completed addiction treatment programs are soon to be reintegrated into society, with many of them to be primarily enrolled in higher education institutions.
Minister Karminty made these statements during the Ministry of Information and Civic Education's weekly briefing, where she provided an overview of her ministry's initiatives.
She explained that her focus has been on implementing practical solutions to address the immediate needs of her beneficiaries, rather than providing extensive explanations. She highlighted the successful establishment of rehabilitation centers in Hastings and Bo as significant achievements.
Furthermore, she noted that many of the youths undergoing treatment at these facilities were previously enrolled in schools, with some pursuing higher education before their substance abuse issues began. Upon their recovery, she confirmed that, in collaboration with the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education, these individuals will have the opportunity to continue their studies.
She concluded by reaffirming her commitment to securing funding for essential initiatives, recognizing the vulnerabilities of her constituents despite global challenges.
