Assaulted Girl Becomes Pregnant; Case Moves to High Court

The wheels of justice are turning in Kenema as Magistrate George B. Samai of Magistrate Court No. 2 ruled on July 17, 2026, that there is sufficient evidence to move forward with trials for several serious criminal charges. 

Following intense preliminary investigations, five defendants—Alfred Pessima, Alie Sesay, Abdulai Ansumana, Amara Samba, and Alhaji Kabba—have had their cases transitioned to the High Court for final judgment.

While the court addressed various property crimes, including high-value thefts of vehicle parts and household goods, the most disturbing case involves Alhaji Kabba. Kabba faces charges of aggravated sexual assault involving a 16-year-old girl at the RTI Barracks. 

The prosecution, led by Police Inspector Aiah Mafinda Teh and PCs Moseray Sylvester Alfred and Swaray Anara Andrew, presented harrowing evidence that the survivor became pregnant as a result of the assault.

Highlighting the gravity of the case under the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act of 2019, Magistrate Samai emphasized that the prosecution had established a prima facie case. 

With the evidence deemed sufficient, Kabba and the other four men will remain in the legal system as they face a formal reckoning at the High Court.
