Indian National Faces High Court Trial Over Le 2.4m Embezzlement Claim

Pradeep Tilwani, an Indian national, has been committed to the High Court by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 over an alleged case of embezzlement.


The accused is charged with embezzlement, contrary to Section 17(1)(b) of the Larceny Act of 1916.


According to the particulars of the offence, between September and November 2025, at No. 22 Mabguraka Road, Amakeni, within the Makeni Judicial District of the North-East Region of Sierra Leone, Tilwani, while serving as Sales Manager of J.B. Enterprises in Makeni, allegedly fraudulently embezzled property valued at Le 2,439,465 belonging to Yerroh Enterprise.



The alleged offence is said to have been committed while the accused was entrusted with the custody of the property in the course of his duties at J.B. Enterprises.


When the charge was read and explained to him, no plea was taken.


The prosecution, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Ibrahim S. Mansaray, tendered relevant documents, called witnesses, and subsequently closed its case. The matter was thereafter adjourned for a ruling.


In his ruling, Magistrate Jah held that the prosecution had established sufficient evidence to warrant the accused standing trial at the High Court and accordingly committed the matter.


Due to the seriousness of the offence, the accused was denied bail.
