Information Minister Leads Delegation to Women Deliver Conference 2026 in Melbourne

The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, is in Melbourne, Australia, leading Sierra Leone’s delegation to the Women Deliver Conference 2026, one of the world’s foremost global platforms focused on advancing gender equality and promoting the rights and wellbeing of women and girls.
During the conference, Minister Bah is serving as a Speaker and Co-Chair of the Global Programme to End Child Marriage, where he is contributing to international discussions on scaling up and financing solutions aimed at accelerating progress in the fight against child marriage.
In his intervention, he reaffirmed President Julius Maada Bio’s commitment to ending child marriage within this generation, stressing the need for a comprehensive strategy anchored on policy reform, sustained investment in education, effective enforcement of laws, and coordinated collective action.
The Minister is also participating in high-level engagements on ending violence against women and girls, taking part in the closing plenary session, and holding bilateral and strategic meetings with international partners to advance President Bio’s agenda for women and girls.
Sierra Leone’s participation at the conference underscores the Government’s strong commitment to ending child marriage, empowering women and girls, and delivering measurable progress through targeted national and international partnerships.
