Jagaban Pledges Support for Kono APC Delegates, Unveils Development Initiatives
All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer aspirant Mohamed Omodu Kamara, popularly known as “Jagaban,” has pledged a range of initiatives to support APC structures, delegates, youths, market women and farmers in Kono District.
Kamara made the commitments during a recent visit to Kono, where he met with party executives, delegates and supporters as part of his engagements ahead of the APC flagbearer convention.
Speaking during the visit, APC Kono District Chairman Raymond Gbekie expressed appreciation for Kamara’s visit, describing it as timely and highlighting what he characterised as the aspirant’s long-standing philanthropic activities.
Gbekie also pointed to the immediate rehabilitation of the APC district office in Kono following Kamara’s visit and urged party members and residents to support what he described as Kamara’s commitment to the welfare of the district.
Addressing delegates and supporters, Kamara thanked the district party executive for the reception and urged delegates not to sell their votes during the party’s internal selection process.
He said, as a gesture of respect for delegates, each delegate would receive a bag of rice regardless of the candidate they eventually support in the flagbearer contest.
Kamara further said he had personally visited delegates across all districts, describing such engagements as part of his effort to understand their concerns. He also assured delegates attending the upcoming APC national convention that arrangements would be made to cater for their welfare and accommodation.
Beyond the party’s internal politics, Kamara outlined several initiatives he said would be implemented through his philanthropic activities.
He said the Jagaban Impact Foundation plans to support women in Kono and provide interest-free micro-loans to market women, small business owners and farmers to help expand their economic activities.
Kamara also announced plans to establish a modern computer laboratory at the APC district office, which he said would enable students to study computer science. According to him, the facility would be equipped with Starlink satellite technology and provide free internet access, with Wi-Fi coverage extending within a 500-metre radius of the party office.
As part of the visit, Kamara also announced or presented logistical and utility support to the Kono APC structure, including nine motorbikes for the District Youth Wing Executive, 100 solar street lights, five air-conditioning units, 32 ceiling and standing fans, two television sets and a public-address sound system.
He also pledged funding for an open canteen at the party premises.
Kamara further referenced philanthropic activities in other parts of the country, including an estimated $500,000 cost for completing the Bai Bureh Hall in Port Loko.
In his closing remarks, Kamara called for unity within the APC, urging members and supporters to remain united regardless of the outcome of the party’s upcoming delegate convention and subsequent general elections.
