The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has appointed veteran coach John Edward Keister as Caretaker Head Coach of the Sierra Leone national men’s football team, Leone Stars, pending the selection of a substantive head coach.
Keister, who currently serves as Technical Director of the Sierra Leone Football Association, will take charge of the national team during the upcoming FIFA international window. He is widely regarded as one of the country’s most experienced football tacticians.
He will be supported by a locally assembled technical team, with Alhaji Foray, Head Coach of Bo Rangers FC, appointed as Assistant Coach I, while Mohamed Lamin Kamara, Head Coach of East End Lions FC, has been named Assistant Coach II.
The trio will be responsible for leading Leone Stars in two international friendly matches against Liberia during the June FIFA window. Sierra Leone will host Liberia in the first leg before travelling to Monrovia for the return fixture.
According to the SLFA Executive Committee, the appointments were made in recognition of the coaches’ technical competence, leadership qualities, and experience within domestic football. The Association expressed confidence that the technical team will deliver strong performances as preparations continue for future international assignments, including the next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign.
The formation of the coaching team brings together three of the most respected figures in Sierra Leonean football management, with expectations high that their combined expertise will help stabilize and strengthen the national squad ahead of upcoming competitive fixtures.
