Kekeh Rider Remanded in Court Following Alleged Motorcycle Fraud

Abu Bakarr Turay, a 20-year-old kekeh rider, has been remanded in custody after being accused of fraudulently converting an entrusted motorcycle. Given the gravity of the allegations, the court denied bail.

The defendant appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at the Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown to face these charges.

The prosecution alleges that on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Sky Junction in Leicester, Mountain Rural District, Turay fraudulently converted a black HLX 150 motorcycle (registration number AZO104) to his own benefit. 

The motorcycle, valued at Le31,000, had been entrusted to him by Alhaji Koroma for communal use; however, Turay is alleged to have misappropriated the property.

Upon the charges being read and explained, no plea was entered, as the proceedings are currently of a committal nature.

Prosecutor DPC 18456 Linda Teh informed the court that the defendant had been served with the case and inquiry file, a receipt which Turay acknowledged.

Citing the seriousness of the offense, Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered the defendant to be remanded at the male correctional facility.

The case has been adjourned until June 30, 2026, for further proceedings.
