Man Jailed 36 Months for Brutal Attack on Resident in Kenema

The Magistrate Court in Kenema, presided over by Her Worship Magistrate Wilbri Hamida M. John of Court No. 2, has sentenced Peter Lahai to thirty-six (36) months imprisonment for wounding and assault.
The convict, Peter Lahai, was arraigned on two counts wounding, contrary to Section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the same Act.
According to the prosecution, led by Inspector Aiah Mafinda Teh, the incident occurred on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Bogru Road in Kenema, Nongowa Chiefdom, within the Kenema Judicial District in the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone. On that date, the accused unlawfully wounded and assaulted Mohamed Bonoh Conteh, causing him actual bodily harm.
Upon arraignment, Lahai pleaded guilty to both counts and pleaded for leniency. In delivering judgment, Magistrate John sentenced him to twenty-four (24) months imprisonment on the first count and twelve (12) months imprisonment on the second count both to run consecutively, amounting to a total of thirty-six (36) months at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema.
