A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing 15 ladies’ handbags valued at Le7,500.

Amiru Sallieu Bah appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on Monday, October 19, 2026. Bah, who was unrepresented by legal counsel, admitted to a charge of larceny under Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

The incident occurred on Saturday, October 3, along ECOWAS Street, off Siaka Stevens Street. According to court particulars, the stolen handbags belonged to Alice Koroma and were in the custody of Osman Koroma at the time of the theft.

Prosecutor Inspector Kadie Taylor informed the court that Bah was a first-time offender with no prior criminal record. Despite his clean record, Magistrate Jah imposed a four-year custodial sentence following the presentation of facts and the defendant's guilty plea.

The ruling concludes the legal proceedings, serving as a reminder of the stern judicial response to larceny offenses.
