Mariyam Konneh Rallies Support for Miss World 2026

Mariyam Lorba Konneh, Sierra Leone’s representative for the upcoming Miss World 2026 competition, has called on citizens across the country to rally behind her as she prepares to take the global stage later this year.

Speaking during the Government Weekly Press Conference organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Miatta Civic Centre, Konneh emphasized that her participation is about representing the collective identity of the nation rather than pursuing personal glory.

“I am representing the country, not myself,” Konneh told journalists and stakeholders, urging Sierra Leoneans to support her journey. 

She noted that she will be competing against delegates from nations with well-established pageant traditions, such as South Africa and the United States, highlighting that robust national unity will be essential to elevate Sierra Leone’s profile.

Beyond the competition itself, Konneh expressed hope that her participation would inspire young Sierra Leoneans and demonstrate the opportunities available through confidence, talent, and dedication. She encouraged the public to follow her journey as she seeks to project the country’s image, culture, and values on the world stage.

The appeal comes as Sierra Leone continues to prioritize the promotion of its culture and achievements through international platforms.
