The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) has issued a strong public warning to private senior secondary schools across the country over continued delays in uploading candidates’ data for the upcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
In a recent notice, the Ministry expressed concern that several schools have failed to comply with repeated directives to submit students’ details through the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Batch Registration System (BRS). Officials cautioned that such lapses could prevent affected students from sitting the examination.
The Ministry warned that failure to complete the registration process not only jeopardizes the academic future of candidates but also undermines national efforts to ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability in public examinations.
Parents and guardians have been urged to urgently contact school authorities to confirm that their children’s data has been properly uploaded. The Ministry emphasized that early verification is crucial to avoiding last-minute complications as the registration deadline approaches.
School proprietors and heads have also been put on notice, with the Ministry stating that non-compliance could attract personal liability. Defaulters risk facing administrative and regulatory sanctions under the Education Act 2023.
The Ministry further stated that no appeals or excuses will be entertained after the registration portal closes, reinforcing the need for immediate compliance.
Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding students’ interests, MBSSE advised affected schools to seek assistance through their respective District Education Offices. It also referenced an attached list of non-compliant institutions, signaling stricter enforcement measures ahead of the examination period.
