Mogbwemo Queens Draw Guinea, Gambia Champions in WAFU Qualifiers

Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League champions Mogbwemo Queens FC have been drawn alongside the champions of Guinea and The Gambia in a challenging group for the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU Zone A Qualifiers in Banjul, The Gambia.

The draw was conducted on Thursday, August 6, 2026, bringing together some of West Africa’s leading women’s club sides as they compete for qualification to the next stage of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Mogbwemo Queens, representing Sierra Leone as the country’s champions, have intensified preparations for the continental competition through regular training sessions as the team builds towards the regional challenge.

The club is also expecting three additional players to join the squad, with the final tournament squad expected to be announced ahead of the team’s departure for The Gambia.

As part of its preparations, Mogbwemo Queens are also set to unveil their official tournament jersey ahead of their historic campaign.

According to the club, management and the technical team are tentatively scheduled to depart Sierra Leone for The Gambia on August 21, 2026.

With the Queens preparing to carry Sierra Leone’s hopes onto the continental stage, the club’s management has appealed to individuals, corporate institutions, government, supporters, football lovers, and well-wishers to support the team in making the historic campaign a success.

The club has also called on Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad to keep the team in their prayers and continue supporting Mogbwemo Queens as they prepare to proudly represent “Mama Salone” in the WAFU Zone A qualifiers.
