Motorcyclist Sentenced to 36 Months Imprisonment for Fraudulent Conversion

Updated: Nov 9

Kaifala Koroma, a 34-year-old motorbike rider, has been found guilty of fraudulent conversion and sentenced to 36 months' imprisonment at Pademba Road Prison.

Koroma pleaded guilty to the charge of fraudulent conversion. He made his second appearance before Magistrate Mamakoh Saio Kallon at the Pademba Road Court No.5 in Freetown.

On September 22, 2024, Koroma fraudulently converted a blue TVS motorbike with registration number AQU 510 to his own use or benefit. The motorbike, valued at eight thousand five hundred Leones (8,500), had been entrusted to him by PC222257 Sannoh A.J for commercial purposes.

Before the sentence was handed down, Prosecutor Detective Police Constable Tambo informed the Court that Koroma had no previous criminal record. The accused, who was not represented by a lawyer, pleaded with the Bench for leniency.

After considering the plea in mitigation, Magistrate Kallon sentenced Koroma to 36 months' imprisonment to be served at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
