NPRA and NCPC Announce Nationwide Fuel Station Inspections

The National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), in collaboration with the National Consumer Protection Commission (NCPC), has commenced a nationwide spot-check exercise at filling stations.

Officials stated that the initiative is designed to ensure strict compliance with established petroleum industry standards and consumer protection regulations. 

According to the regulators, the inspection teams are verifying the accuracy of fuel dispensing pumps and monitoring the conduct of station attendants to ensure that petroleum products are sold at approved prices and in the correct quantities.

The agencies reported that their joint teams are currently examining various aspects of station operations, including pump calibration, service delivery, and price display compliance. 

Furthermore, the authorities warned that any filling stations discovered to be in violation of the law would face regulatory and administrative repercussions in accordance with existing legislation.

In their statement, the institutions emphasized that the campaign reflects their ongoing commitment to fostering fairness, transparency, and accountability within Sierra Leone’s downstream petroleum sector, with a primary goal of safeguarding the rights and interests of consumers at all times.
