Under the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai Esq., the National Sports Authority (NSA) has received commendation from lawmakers for its proactive efforts in promoting sports beyond football and empowering youth through structured engagement programs.

During the NSA’s budget hearing held on Friday, 12th December 2025, in Committee Room 1, Hon. Boston Munda, Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Budget Appropriation for FY 2024/2025, praised the Authority for its continued support of multiple sports disciplines despite financial constraints.

“Your efforts to develop sports beyond football are commendable and contribute significantly to youth empowerment,” Hon. Munda said, highlighting the Authority’s positive impact across the country.

In response to questions from Members of Parliament, Dr. Abdulai expressed gratitude to President Julius Maada Bio’s government for its unprecedented support to sports development. He also appealed for increased budgetary allocations to further grow and diversify sporting activities nationwide.

Dr. Abdulai emphasized that sports offer broader societal benefits, including youth engagement, crime reduction, and combating substance abuse in communities.

Established by an Act of Parliament in 2017, the National Sports Authority remains committed to promoting, regulating, and supervising all sporting activities within and beyond Sierra Leone’s borders.
