Old Edwardians FC staged a dramatic late comeback to hold league leaders Bo Rangers FC to a 1-1 draw in a fiercely contested Leone Rock Premier League encounter on Thursday, April 23, at the SLFA Academy Grounds.
Bo Rangers took the lead in the 26th minute through a moment of brilliance from winger Paul Kwei Jr.. Picking up the ball near the touchline, he weaved past three defenders before delivering a low, accurate cross into the box. Striker Abu Komeh finished clinically, sweeping the ball past the goalkeeper to give the visitors a deserved 1-0 advantage.
The league leaders dominated much of the first half, controlling possession and dictating the tempo as they carried their narrow lead into the break, appearing on course to secure another crucial victory in their title push.
However, Old Edwardians returned from halftime with renewed determination. The second half saw a more balanced and intense contest, with both sides creating chances and the goalkeepers making key saves to keep the scoreline tight.
The breakthrough for the “May Park Boys” finally arrived in the 86th minute. Midfielder Issa H. Mansaray, who had been instrumental throughout the match, delivered a perfectly weighted cross into the penalty area. Substitute Mamadi Conde rose above the defense to power home a header, leveling the score and sparking celebrations among the Old Edwardians players and bench.
Mansaray’s influential display in midfield earned him the Man of the Match award, with his vision, composure, and tireless work rate proving vital in securing a point for his side.
The result sees Old Edwardians maintain third position on the league table with 42 points, while Bo Rangers remain at the summit with 50 points despite dropping two valuable points late in the game.
Old Edwardians will now shift focus to their upcoming away fixture against Bhantal FC, while Bo Rangers aim to bounce back when they host Star Sport Academy in their next league outing.
