Plumber Jailed Five Years for Stealing Le75,250 from Church Vehicle

A Sierra Leonean plumber, Foday Faragbo, has been sentenced to five years imprisonment after being convicted of stealing Le75,250 from a church vehicle in Freetown.

Faragbo was convicted by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 after a trial on a charge of larceny from a vehicle, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act, 1916.

According to the police charge sheet, the convict committed the offence on Monday, 4 May 2026, at Byrneloane Drive 2, Aberdeen, within the Freetown Judicial District.

The court heard that Faragbo stole Le75,250 from a vehicle with registration number APG 911, belonging to the National Pentecostal Church.

Faragbo, who resides at Aberdeen Ferry Road, was arrested on 26 May 2026 following police investigations and was subsequently charged with the offence.

During the trial, the prosecution presented evidence linking the accused to the theft. After reviewing the evidence, Magistrate Jah ruled that the prosecution had proven the case beyond reasonable doubt.

The court therefore convicted Faragbo of larceny from a vehicle and sentenced him to five years in prison. The stolen money was confirmed to be the property of the National Pentecostal Church.

The convict has been remanded to serve his sentence in line with the court’s order.
