The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has strongly refuted widespread rumors of an impending curfew in Kenema City, clarifying that such claims are "entirely baseless, misleading, and intended to cause unnecessary fear and panic among the public."
Concerns have been mounting among residents following an uptick in armed robbery incidents, leading to speculation that authorities might impose a curfew to curb criminal activity.
However, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Tower of the SLP reiterated the force's commitment to maintaining peace, law, and order without resorting to a curfew.
"Let it be made absolutely clear: There is no curfew order in Kenema," a public notice from the SLP stated.
The police are urging all residents to continue with their daily activities peacefully and to desist from disseminating unverified information. The SLP also issued a stern warning, stating that "Anyone caught spreading false information will face the full force of the law."
