The President of the Police Wives’ Association, Madam Matilda Doris Sellu, conducted a working visit to the Kenema Police Division on Thursday, February 12th, 2026. She delivered a comprehensive presentation to officers and association members at the Kenema Police Station, detailing the transformative development initiatives implemented under her leadership.
Madam Sellu was received by the Regional Police Commander East, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Francis Brima Meinday, who, on behalf of the Sierra Leone Police Eastern Region, acknowledged the visionary leadership and effective governance of the Police Wives’ Association.
He commended the President for guiding the association toward significant developmental interventions that continue to positively affect police families nationwide. The Regional Commander urged both members and police personnel to maintain their steadfast support to ensure the association’s continued growth and relevance.
In her address, Madam Sellu expressed sincere appreciation for the warm and receptive welcome extended by the Kenema Division Police Wives’ Association and divisional officers. She systematically outlined the various development programs executed through the collective commitment and contributions of members across the country.
She disclosed that funds generated from social activities have been judiciously invested in critical welfare and development projects. These include the provision of sanitation facilities, improvements to water and sanitation systems, access to micro-loans, and capacity-building training for residents in several police barracks throughout Sierra Leone. These interventions, she stated, are designed to enhance living standards and empower police families toward greater self-reliance and productivity.
Defining development as the core principle of her administration, Madam Sellu encouraged members and personnel to remain dedicated to the association's vision, emphasizing that unity, transparency, and consistent contributions are fundamental to achieving long-term progress.
The Local Unit Commander for the Kenema Division, Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Kpulun, pledged his division's full support to the Police Wives’ Association, reaffirming the command's commitment to fostering a cooperative relationship that promotes welfare, discipline, and community development.
The engagement concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing members to seek clarification and offer suggestions on strengthening the association’s operations and expanding its development agenda.
The meeting successfully underscored the Police Wives’ Association's vital role as a partner in advancing welfare and development within the Sierra Leone Police community.
