President Julius Maada Bio arrived in Accra on Friday for a brief diplomatic visit to meet with Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, following the recent catastrophic natural disasters that have struck the country.
During the bilateral meeting, President Bio conveyed the profound sympathies of the government and people of Sierra Leone to those affected by the torrential rains and severe flooding that have heavily impacted Accra.
"Sierra Leone stands firmly in solidarity with the people of Ghana during this challenging period," President Bio stated, acknowledging the heartbreak caused by the loss of life and significant destruction resulting from the disaster.
The two West African leaders utilized the visit to deliberate on immediate humanitarian support measures, regional disaster response strategies, and long-term joint efforts in climate resilience and infrastructure planning within the ECOWAS framework.
President Mahama expressed appreciation for the visit, reaffirming Ghana’s commitment to collaborating with neighboring states to address shared environmental and economic challenges.
