The Minister of Information and Civic Education for the Republic of Sierra Leone recently characterized his official visit to the Cuban Institute of Information and Social Communication, the Cuban equivalent of our Ministry of Information and Civic Education, as both historic and profoundly inspiring, referring to the country as a living museum.

The visit, which aimed to foster partnerships and gain insights into processes, systems, cultures, and potentials, involved meetings with officials, experiencing local traditions and citizens abroad, and concluded with a remarkable observation of Cuba as a;

"land that never forgets its past, with every aspect of the nation serving as an exhibition of remembrance and pride."

He was particularly moved by the unwavering pride and generosity of the Cuban people, recalling their altruistic gesture of sending doctors to Sierra Leone during the Ebola crisis.

The Minister also emphasized his interactions with numerous African students, including 18 Sierra Leonean medical students, all receiving free education. He sensed a strong African heritage throughout Cuba, with many acknowledging their spirit of resistance as originating from Africa.

During his visit, he engaged in productive discussions with various Cuban media and cultural institutions, as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Communist Party, expressing a strong desire for enhanced cooperation between Cuba and Sierra Leone.

He concluded by stating that Cuba is soulful, demonstrating to the world that pride, memory, and solidarity are powerful foundations for nationhood, and that Africa and Cuba are connected not only by history but also by spirit.
