Sierra Leone Selects 17-Woman Squad for ICC U19 T20 Qualifier

Cricket Sierra Leone (CSL) has officially announced a provisional 17-woman squad in preparation for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Division 2 Africa Qualifier. The tournament is scheduled to be held in Kampala, Uganda, from March 6th to 15th, 2026, with matches taking place at The Tbebe Cricket Oval, situated 4km from the airport.

This initial 17-player roster was meticulously selected following a rigorous six-match trial process, which itself followed a highly competitive 12-team Women's U19 T20 youth league conducted in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The provisional squad is expected to undergo intensive training throughout the majority of February before a final, streamlined squad of 14 players is confirmed for the competition.

The selected players are: Ramatu Kamara, Hawa Kumba Kamara, Mary Kamara, Desmonda Coker, Katty Kamara, Mabinty Sama, Susan Sesay, Mariama Jalloh, Theresa Tommy, Ruth Ajabola, Isatu F. Sesay, Adama Kpundeh, Isatu A Bah, Kadiatu Sawaneh, Isha K. Bangura, Christiana Lamin, and Kumba Mansaray.

Known as the Junior Women's Patriots, the team previously secured a third-place finish behind Kenya in the 2024 equivalent tournament held in Kigali, Rwanda. For the upcoming Kampala qualifier, the Junior Women's Patriots are set to face Group opponents Malawi, Kenya, Mozambique, and Cameroon.
