SLCAA Boss Calls for Improved Aviation Security

The Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA), Madam Musayeroh Barrie, has called for stronger measures to enhance aviation security through effective leadership, early threat detection and international cooperation.

Speaking at ICAO Security Week, Barrie said aviation security goes beyond compliance with regulations, stressing that it is essential to protecting lives, safeguarding national security, building public trust and supporting economic growth.

She emphasised the need for governments, security agencies, aviation stakeholders and international partners to strengthen collaboration in addressing emerging security challenges in the aviation sector.

Barrie also highlighted the importance of investing in staff training, improving security monitoring systems and promoting a culture of responsibility among aviation professionals.

She maintained that aviation security requires a collective commitment from all stakeholders, warning that there must be no room for complacency in efforts to protect the sector.
