SLFA Conducts Refresher Training for Instructors and Assessors in Eastern Region

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), in collaboration with the Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA), has successfully concluded a two-day Member Association (MA) Course for Instructors and Assessors, aimed at strengthening refereeing standards across the Eastern Region and the country.
The refresher training, held at Rendezvous Hall on Reservation Road, brought together fourteen instructors and assessors from Kenema, Kailahun, and Kono districts. The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance technical capacity and professionalism in football officiating.
The training was facilitated by Technical Instructor Abdul Rahim Sanusi (Alhaji), alongside Eastern Region Football Referees’ Association Chairman Abdul Kamara (Akito) and Physical Instructor Bristo Ibrahim Kamara. Participants were taken through modern officiating techniques, assessment procedures, and best practices designed to improve refereeing performance.
The session also attracted key football stakeholders, including Mohamed Pateh Jabbie, popularly known as Skillo, Chairman of the Kenema District Football Association (KDFA), as well as other ERFA officials who attended to observe and support the initiative.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, AbuBakarr Sadiq Kallon, alias Cantona, commended participants for their dedication and active engagement throughout the training. He emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and encouraged participants to transfer the knowledge gained to other referees within their respective districts. He also praised referees for their improved performances in recent competitions.
Mohamed Pateh Jabbie described the refresher course as a significant milestone that will strengthen refereeing standards and foster collaboration among instructors and assessors in the region. He stressed that continuous capacity building remains essential for the growth and development of football.
Facilitators expressed satisfaction with the level of participation and engagement demonstrated during the training. They also commended SLFA President Babadi Kamara and his executive for their continued commitment to football development through technical education and institutional support.
Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of participants, Moriba Brain Sannoh expressed appreciation to the SLFA, ERFA, and KDFA for organizing the training. He assured stakeholders of their continued commitment to officiating duties and pledged to effectively apply the knowledge acquired.
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to all fourteen participants, marking the successful completion of the refresher training program.
