The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced the immediate administrative suspension of Ms. Fatmata Turay, Head Coach of the U-17 Female National Team. This action has been taken pending the conclusion of a formal disciplinary investigation.
The decision follows the circulation of an audio recording on social media containing statements allegedly made by the coach. These statements reportedly reference a U-17 national team player and touch upon matters concerning club affiliation and potential national team selection.
The SLFA asserts that if the allegations are substantiated, they would constitute serious violations, including abuse of authority, conflict of interest, and actions that compromise the integrity of the national team selection process.
The Association underscored that the administration of national teams is strictly governed by principles of independence, transparency, and merit-based selection. It further stated that any conduct threatening these foundational standards will be subject to a prompt and impartial review.
The SLFA clarified that this suspension is strictly administrative and precautionary and should not be construed as a determination of guilt. The coach will be afforded the full opportunity to formally respond to the allegations before the designated disciplinary body, ensuring adherence to due process and the principles of natural justice.
The Association reiterated its steadfast commitment to safeguarding player welfare, upholding institutional integrity, and maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards within Sierra Leone football.
