SLP Sensitizes on Substance Abuse and Child Marriage

Officers from the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) Rutile Division conducted a school sensitisation campaign on Tuesday, October 27, targeting drug abuse, violence, and early marriage among pupils.
Led by Local Unit Commander Superintendent Ahmed Tejan Salif, the police team addressed students on peaceful dispute resolution and the legal definitions of violence and disorderly conduct. Superintendent Salif urged students to utilize official channels to voice grievances rather than resorting to conflict.
The outreach also featured presentations by Family Support Unit officer Augustine Nallo, who highlighted self-protection strategies and legal penalties associated with child abuse and sexual harassment. Additionally, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohamed F. Mattia detailed the severe health and social impacts of substance abuse.
School Principal Ibrahim Koroma commended the police force for the proactive outreach, following an interactive question-and-answer session with students, and encouraged continued community engagements of this nature.
