The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) hosted a special Iftar reception last Friday at its Kissy Road headquarters. The event was organized to honor Muslim staff members observing the holy month of Ramadan, underscoring the Authority's commitment to fostering a culture of religious tolerance, inclusivity, and mutual respect within the professional environment.
The gathering served as a significant demonstration of Sierra Leone’s tradition of religious coexistence, bringing together Muslim employees and Christian colleagues currently observing the Lenten season. Abubakerr Alhaji Kamara, Manager of Records and Archives and Deputy Head of Chaplaincy, characterized Ramadan as a vital period for reflection, discipline, and compassion. He noted that formal recognition of religious observances is essential for strengthening teamwork and enhancing mutual understanding across diverse faith groups.
While this marks the Authority's first official Iftar event, Mr. Kamara confirmed it would become an established tradition aimed at promoting institutional inclusiveness. Staff members expressed their gratitude to management, citing the initiative as a meaningful symbol of unity. By facilitating such interactions, the SLRSA continues to uphold the national spirit of harmony and collaborative service.
In observation of the remainder of the holy month, the Authority encourages all personnel to embody the values of patience and kindness, further enhancing their professional service and daily interactions with the public.
