A high-level delegation from the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), led by Executive Director Mr. James B. Bio, has arrived in Abuja for a pivotal three-day working visit. Invited by the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission, the mission marks a significant step in strengthening inter-agency cooperation and road safety management across West Africa.
The visit commenced on Wednesday, July 1st, with a courtesy call to the Sierra Leone High Commission. Dr. Julius F. Sandy, Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, welcomed the delegation, which was accompanied by senior officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), including Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Abimbola Owolabi, the ACM for Policy.
During the meeting, Mr. Bio outlined the primary objectives of the mission, highlighting the focus on bilateral cooperation and institutional collaboration. The engagement is designed to facilitate a robust exchange of experiences, allowing the SLRSA to study Nigeria’s established best practices and operational models to enhance Sierra Leone’s own road safety systems.
“This visit will further consolidate the longstanding partnership between Sierra Leone and Nigeria in road safety administration,” Mr. Bio stated. The agenda includes high-level strategic meetings with the FRSC to identify adaptable management frameworks for the SLRSA.
A central milestone of the visit will be the signing of a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement is expected to deepen technical cooperation, promote continuous knowledge sharing, and foster a sustained partnership in road safety administration between the two nations.
Dr. Julius F. Sandy commended the initiative, emphasizing that such institutional partnerships are essential for national development. He reaffirmed the cordial bilateral relations between the two countries, noting that these collaborations yield tangible benefits for both Sierra Leone and Nigeria.
The SLRSA delegation includes Abu-Bakarr Sheriff, Esq. (Secretary to the Authority and Board), Mr. Joseph H. Momoh (Director of Finance), Mrs. Assanatu Judith Mansaray (Director of Human Resource), Mrs. Elizabeth Joko Bassey (Director of Audit), and Mr. Ambrose Tucker (Manager of Research and Planning).
