Stats SL Appoints New Regional PR Official for Eastern Region

Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats SL) has appointed Manser Sahr Yongai as the Regional Public Relations Official for the Eastern Region ahead of the 2026 Decennial Population and Housing Census.

Yongai, a media professional with Star Line Radio 98.5 in Kenema, is expected to lead public engagement and information dissemination for the census in the region.

Originally from Kono District on his father’s side and Panguma on his mother’s, Yongai has lived and worked in Kenema and Kailahun Districts, giving him strong ties across the East.

Stats SL said the appointment is part of its strategy to strengthen communications at the regional level in preparation for the nationwide census.

“The upcoming exercise is critical for providing reliable data to guide Sierra Leone’s development agenda, and effective communication will play a key role in ensuring public participation,” the institution noted.

The 2026 census will provide updated figures on population and housing, serving as a reference point for policy planning and development initiatives.
